People used calculators for solving business and scientific data processing problems in the past before computers were invented.
Nowadays speed and general usefulness make a computer equivalent to thousands of calculators and their operator.

The ability of electronic computers to solve mathematical and logical problems, thereby arguing the efficiency and productivity of the human brain, has made the sphere of their application practically boundless.
A computer differs radically from a calculator, which can do the same thing that a computer does, except that the instructions are not stored inside the machine. In calculator, four of the five functions are in principle, the same as in a computer.

Also the desk calculators, are used in different places, where there aren’t computers ( for example: in post-offices and storehouses). When we go shopping we couldn’t take a computer with us, and put a desk calculator into our pocket.
